"I was home the night before the mine closed and did not go to any meetings 'yhen I went to work the morning of May léth, 1937, I really didn't think there was going to be a strike, That afternoon J heard that we were to quite work and I guite and came homes I found out some time later why the strike was called but would rather not state the reason given me. On the day the strike started I saw some cars loaded short. They were I believe loaded short over a dispute over the contract, I don't know whether the mine closed over the dispute over the wage question or over the men who were expelled from the union. "T recall signing a petition for P.M.A., I don't remember just where but I don't think it was signed on mine property. I signed this of my own frec will. "J did not hear anything about any U.M.i. petition the summer of 1957, I never saw such a petition.
