INTERVIEW WITH “During summer of 1940 I never signed any card for Ui
‘ ai but till Jan. 1941 I paid dues to PMA. When I went back
ecntinu to work in 1939 at Mige BI signed some cerd showing that
ZI wes still with PMA.
*NLRB hed ancther election st the Armory in Springfield, T1l., and
althc I was with UM? then I still signed PhiA as I liked that local and I had
been satisfiod and they had « nico bunch of men. No one told me to vote that
way and no force wos used and it we by secret ballot and was an honest eloc-
ticn. There had been many new UMW men at the mine ond I also think thet many
PMA voted for UM because they were afraid thet the mine would be closed a-
rain os I heard somo gossip about that. Box 4 was cleaned up in two days.
Box $ took a little longer os it had a little squoeze in it. Box 2 and 9_
were never reopenec. I don't know cf any fire at Mine B in 1959. I know Gas-
cow but 1 don't know cf him talking about money at any meeting.
"This is about all I can think of 4n ecnnection with this strike and
T had te go to work for WPA then.
“I have hod scent WIR rece this 2 page statenent to me and it is
true and correct ond I hove signed it of my om free will.”
