The balance of the Agents assigned to this investigation remained at the Chisago Office, awaiting advice as te the identity of the theatre which Dillinger would aetually exter. At 8:50 P.M. Dillinger andtro women companions were observed entering the Biopraph Theatre, 2433 Lincoln Avenue, Chieago, Dllincis, by Mr. Purvis end Special dcent B, This information wae immediately telephoned to the Agents of the Chicago Office, whe proceeded to the vicinity ef the Bogrph Theatre and ecvered all exita, in accordance with plans previously laid. In this recard it may be noted that both theatres had been visited earlier in the evening and detailed information ebtained eoncerning the various exits and possible avemues of escape. Agent A's report states that: "Speelal Agents D and & were assigned, together with Agents Bopsic and Stretch of the Fast Chicago, Indiana Police Departuent, to seize Dillinger as he was leaving the theatre". The report then names ether Special Agents who were “to elose din towards Dillin;er from the north", while other specifically named Agents were "to close in towards Dillinver from the south". Special Agents were atationed on the opposite side of the street from the theatre, in addition to those immediately surrounding the theatre, Speciel Agent B remained in a oar near the theatre at a point elose to that where Mr. Purvis was stationed. In the neauwhile, Special Agent C and Sergeant farkovich, whe had proceeded to the Marbro Theatre, were notified by telephone that Dillin;er had entered the Biocraph Theatre, and proceeded immediately to that point. Captain Timothy O'Neil and Sergeant Conroy of the East Chicago, Indians Police Department, were also at the Biograph Theatre, while Inspector Cowley of the Federal Bureau of Investigation maintained a roving position about the theatre, keeping in toueh with all Agents, to assure proper funstioning at all exits. % Agent A's report states: "About 10:30 o'elock on the night ef duly 22, 1984, Dillinger, aceampanied by two women sompanions, was observed eerging from the Biograph Theatre. They walked south on Lincoln Avenue from the theatre, Special Agent in Charge KN. He Purvis gave the pre-erranged signal of lighting a cigar. Agents immediately began to veioee in slowly towarda Dillinger from all sides. Dillinger apparently became apprehensive. He glanced over his shoulder at Agente and started to mm, grabbing for his gun simultaneously. As Dillinger grabbed for his gun, five shots were fired by three Agents, one Avent firing three shots and two Agents firing one shot each, Dillinger fell face dowmerd near an alley, a «380 calibre automatic pistol wes in his hand when he fell. Mo shots were fired from Dillincer's pistol, dn extra elip for his pistol was fond in his pooket,"
