SOBLE denied that he had stated that JANE ZLATOVSKI had produced a "pile of papers" for MARTHA STERN, With reference to house in Washington which STERN took SOBLE to visit in 1945, SOBLE stated that STERN had probably used the house for clandestine purposes on prior occasions since STERN knew the owners of the house well (VAN CASTEEL). SOBLE advised that MARTHA STERN had probably told him that JANE ZLATOVSKI had been in espionage work before he, SOBLE met JANE. SOBLE denied making a statement that JANE had furnished "two valises" of information on Indonesia which was used by the Soviets. SOBLE again claimed that he did not recall giving MORROS' re- ports on ZLATOVSKI and OMTVEDT to carry to Vienna for him. SOBLE denied having made the statement that he had to pay JANE ZLATOVSKI $11,000 after his return from Moscow in 1949. SOBLE denied that he had paid money or given gifts to JANE FOSTER in the United States. He again admitted paying the ZLATOVSKIS $150 per month in Europe and stated that the ZLATOVSKIS gave him receipts for this money signed "JANE" and "GEORGE." SOBLE stated that these receipts were given by him to KOUSNETZOV. SOBLE stated that at one time he was contacting two different Soviet superiors in Europe, that is the Vice Consul at Berne, Switzerland and KOUSNETZOV in Paris. SOBLE stated he did not recall the name of the person who came from Moscow to Paris and contacted him in 1950. He denied urging MORROS to make up with STERN or to enter another Soviet Cover Company after MORROS and STERN separated. a a
