STERN drove CHOUNDENKO and SOBIE to the STERN farm in ) Ridgefield, Connecticut. The introduction was made at STERN's insistence. STERN asked CHOUNDENKO recommend other companies in which STERN could invest money end in which bother STERN could make money and the Soviets could use the company for Soviet i purposes. According to SOBLE, CHOUNDENKO could not understand why STERN, a wealthy American businessman, could not, on his own, find such companies for investment. SOBLE claims he does not know the other Soviet contacts of the STERNS. SOBLE repeated that MARTHA STERN admitted she furnished information from US Embassy, Berlin, to Soviets in 1930's and said ZUBILIN also mentioned this. Said STERNS also had, in USm other Soviet contacts, apparently from Soviet Embassy in Washington, where they attended reception. : SOBLE also repeated that KOROIKOV, in Moscow, 1949, 4 cherged SOBLE with failure to turn in report received from 3 STERN earlier in 1949. SOBLE denied to KOROTKOV that he received such reports, but KOROTKOV stated the Soviets hed a copy of i the report that the STERNS had given to SOBLE. SOBLE admitted a to interviewing Agents that in 1949, he had met STERN at STERN 's : insistence end had accepted a report.
