JACK SOBLE interviewed AM and PM, 4/22/57,
at Federal Correctional Institution, Danbury, Conn.
Re ALICE MARTIN, SOBLE stated he recalled
that ALICE WARTIN at a meeting at her apartment on 97th
Street, New York City, sometime during World War 11,
geve SOBLE a handwritten biography on RICHARD LAUTERBACH,
ALICE®told SOBLE that LAUTERBACH was making a trip to
India. . MARTIN stated that LAUTERBACH was a Communist
and would be agreeable to t contact with the Soviets in
India. SOBLE stated that LAUTERBACH was given a meeting
place at hotel in Calcutta, where he was staying and
a parole for a meeting with the Soviss.
: SOBLE stated that ALICE MARTIN told him she had known
LAUTERBACH, but SOBLE did not kmow the details of their
j relationship. SOBLE gave the information from ALICE
MARTIN. on LAUTERBACH to CHALIAPIN. SOBLE recalled that
CHALIAPIN expressed interest in this information, but
: ALICE MARTIN later told SOBLE that LAUTERBACH had told
i her thet he was not contacted by the Soviets in Calcutta.
