_ ir. advised of a call from Mr. Suydam who stated that a Mr.
x Van"Dressler, a free lance writer, wanted to get a story on the
>Hagic Bye for one of the Washington papers. Mr. Quinn stated that
Ke told Mr. Suydam that he, Mr. Hoover, was out of the city. Mr.
Hoover stated that he did not want anything given out on the
Magic Eye.
Mr. Quinn advised that Mr. Collier was in this morning; that Mr.
Collier wanted to get two photographe, one with Mr. Baughman holding
the machine gum and the two Agents firing on the range and the other
one showing the Director taking his fingerprints; that Mr. Collier
stated that he talked to Mr. Tolson about this; that he gave Mr.
Collier these pho tographa.
Mr. Hoover instructed Mr. Quinn to have ave Mr. Tamm to prepare an
immediate release on Robert Cohen. Mr. Hoover further instructed Mr.
Quinn to contact Colonel Gates and tell Colonel “ates that he, Mr.
Quinn, had just telked to Mr. Hoover in Miami and that Mr. Hoover
suggested that the release be given out at once. Mr. Hoover stated
that if it it agreeable to Colonel Gates he, Mr. Quinn, should call
the four press associations and the four Washington papera and advise
then that this release is available tonight. Mr. Hoover stated that
he wanted to avoid Mr. Collier getting a scoop.
Mr. Quinn advised that }r. Nethen is scheduled to make a telk
on Tuesday night in Buffalo.- Mr. Hoover stated that this would be
ali right.
Mr. Quinn advised of a memorandum from Mr. Baughman concerning a
pistol shoot to be Held in Tampa on March 8 to March 11, 1936.
Mr. Quinn suggested that this be not approved and Mr. Hoover con-—
curred.
¥r. Quinn advised of a memorandum from Mr. Clegg advising that he
can release Mr. Lester effective February 15 from the Training
School and Mr. Hince on February 23. Mr. Hoover cautioned Mr. Quinn
not to let this get out. Mr. Hoover advised that Mr. Lester is
leaving tororrow afternoon for Chicago thence to the Northwest
section. ;
Mr. Quinn advised of a memorandum for.. the Attorney General calling
his attention to various tours and people rho have been through the
Bureau. Mr. Hoover instructed Mr. Quinn to sign this memorandum and
send it around.
Mr. Quinn inquired if it would be all right for Miss Gandy to sign
the letters to Mr. Waldrop and Mr. Lambert transmitting a copy of
that BUI.
ir. Hoover advised that he can be contacted in room 321 at the
Roney Pleza.
