quested that Mr. Schilder prepare a letter to Mr. Walter Winchell just sum—
marizing the matter, so that Mr. Hoover can see the letter and sign it up
thers.
Mr. Tolson also requested Mr. Quinn to inquire of Mr. Richmond what
success he had on the baseball permit — he was curious to know rhether they
told him we would be able to get the South Diamond on the Ellipse for our games
this Summer. Mr. Tolson stated he would like to know ‘the next time he talks
with Mr. Quinn.
Mics Quinn stated that Mr. Clegg desired to talk with wr. Tolson
about something, he didn't say what. He further stated that Mr. Clegg is
now reviewing Mr. Nathan's talks, and there were on.y a couple of things which
he, Mr. Quimn, thought should be left out. Mr. Tolson said to tell Mr. Clegg
we should be sure these talks are all right, and that he, Mr. Clegg, should
see then.
Mr. Quinn told Mr. Tolson he contacted Colonel Lincoln, Mr. Stanley
and Mr, Baker. Mr. Tolson inquired whether Colonel Lincoln wanted to come
over, and Mr. Quinn stated No — he would like Mr. Tolson to give him a call
when he arrived back in the city, and thet Mr. Baker said from reading the
papers he could understand why Mr. Hoover is out of the city, with all this
going on. Mr. Tolson said ‘this was just as well.
Mr. Quinn stated he had ordered/overtime in Mr. Renneberger's sec-
tion, and inquired whether Mr. Tolson desired them to hold a meeting in nis
absence and consider the North Dakote-South Dakota proposition, and Mr. Tolson
advised that he did, and desired that they reach a definite recommendation.
Mr. Tolson inquired as to Mr. Renneberger's situation on the Manual, and Mr.
Guinn advised thet he sent Mrs. Henley down with Miss Wall this morning to
start proofing it, and the general letter to go out is being typed. Mr.
Tolson stated this was dictated last Thursday — that Mr. Clegg told him be-
fore he left town that that letter was dictated ~ and that surely they are
not still transcribing it. Mr. Quinn stated that it was pretty lengthy, and
Mir. Tolson said it will be eight or ten pages, but it should not take three
or four days just to get it typed. Mr. Tolson said he would like Mr. Quinn
to get this letter typed by five o'clock and go over it with the Executive
Committee and make sure that everything in the letter is all right, because
