Reference is made t In addition to the information contain in my reply of March 25, 1946, this is to advise that Ronald Nowe, Deputy Commissioner of New Scotland Yard, stated that the International Criminal Police Commission has baan in axistanrcea for the past thirty-years-or more. -This commission, according to Howe, is represented by high police officials of practically every police department in all the countries on the Continent. The comis- sion has been meeting yearly and was principally inaugurated for the purpose of having direct liaison with each other in order to stinulate investigations and, generally, to make certain that matters in which the police departments of one country ere inter- ested and which have some connection with individuals in other countries, will be investigated by the police in that country without the usual 6r customary delay, and also that they might not possibly be ignored entirely. Mr. Howe also stated that since all official matters Vy, ' are handled directly by the various members of the commission, (-“/ no large staff is required and since it 1s composed of high ranking officials, replies to inquiries and requests for inves- tigations are certain to be handled.
