participate in the work of the Commission as extraordinary members, and
these experts are supposed te work with the offices of the International
World Police with headquarters in New York. The Commission, without
citing examples, claims to have enjoyed many successes, and states that
they have been especially successful in the suppression of counterfeiting.
The Commission states that many of the countries belonging to
the Commission have established offices which are in close relation with
the International Central Offices in Vienna at the seat of the Federal
Police Directorate of Vienna, which is apparently maintained as a Federal
criminal clearing house of criminal data by the Austrian Federal Police,
Some of the branches of the Federal Police Directorate include the _*
Internetional Central Office for the Suppression of Counterfeiting
Currency, Cheques and Pepers of Monetary Value; the Informmtion Service
concerning International Criminals; the Service of International Research;
the International Rerister of Persons Detriment4l to Society; the Inter-
netional Hureau for the Transmission of Finserprints and Photographs of
Interneation:l Criminals, and the Internationel Centrnl Office for the
Suppression of Porgine Fassports. By excheneing criminalistic material
concerning international criminals, the central offices ere said to do
very useful work. Two srecial. publicertions, one in Mnrlish end one jn
German, are sponsored by the Commission, the title of the English -
publication being "International Public Safety". —-
Two International Police Congresses were sponsored by the
Commission, the first in Berlin in 1926, and the second in Antwerp in
1930, Ten additional meetings heve been held as follows: Vienne -
1924, 1926 and 1930; Berlin - 1926; amsterdem - 1927; Berne, Switzer-
‘land - 1928; Antwerp, Belgium - 1930; Paris - 1931; Rome - 1932; and
Vienna - 1934,
The Commission states that the League of Nations is elso
interested in the work of the International Commission, but does not
cleim that the International Cormission has any connection with the
League. °
Ever since the foundation of the’Commission, as set forth
above, it hes had its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The present
Police Fresident of Vienna is the President of the Commission. He
is Dr. Michael Skubl, Police President and Director of Pyblic Safety,
Vienna, Austria, He is at present assisted by seven Vice-Presidents,
who are the representetives of Denmark, France, Germany, Holland,
Hungary, Rumania and Yugoslavia. In addition, he is assisted by an
administrative committees composed of two Permanent Reporters, 6ne from
