It was reported the Knoxville institution will be a research and educational center which "insures the continuation of the Highlander idea*, It was reported that so far as financially possible, the Knoxville school will take over the previous _ educational program of the Monteagle School if the latter is forced to close. News media have reported the U. &. Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal of the Highlander Folk School from the decision of the Tennessee Courts and found tht Highlander violated criminal laws_of _the-state_and revoked the school's charter. HORTON, during the state trial, was accused of operating the school-for personal benefit, and it was alleged beer was illegally sold on the grounds. In the news article of October 8, 1961, it was reported that the State Charter for the Knoxville School was issued on August 28, 1961.
