assembled, in Enoxville, Terme, on May 25, 1940, unanimously adopted the following |

"WHEREAS the aim of the Highiander Folk Sohool at Monteagle, Tenn- ,
essee, is to ald in the fignt for complete political and economic -
democracy in the South, and .
WHEREAS the school condusts a year round educational, recraationsl
and organizational program made up of «ix weeks residence terms, in-
stitutes and conferences, ond field work with unions, and .
WHEREAS teachers and a numter of former studente are orgonizers and
officials of CIO unions, and
WHEREAS such lubor activities have made the school a target for at-
tacks from anti-labor forces, ;
THEREFORE be it resolved thut this organization endorse the aims and
program of the Highlander Folk School and that the efforts to discredit
and defame the school be condemed on an attack on the progressive la-
bor movement of the South. ®
