At this meeting the annual report of the Highiander Folk School
prepered by JAILS MBROWSKI Was presented. This report is sum-

TO THE FRIENDS OF HIGHLANDER
The energies of Highlander will be directed to
the defeat of the Axis and the destruction of Fascism, A pro-
posal that the resources of the Highlander Folk School be used
as e defense training center for Union lerdere received the en-
dorsenent of the Tennessee State Industrial Union Council's
executive board on January 4, 1942. It is expected to be approved
by A.F. of L. and Failrosd Srotherhood Unions. It approved by
Weshincgton, this program will receive the mjor emphasis in 1942,
Totel enrollment for the year 1941 was 252 etudents, including 156
who ettended week-end conferences, <A noteble accomplishment was
the extension work done by Miss MARY LAWRANCE in New Orleans and
py EARTHY ALASICNR in Memphis, Other exterision work was done in
mony other parts of the South, oft work in the community was

SPRING ToRM
The Spring Term for Workers, May 12 - 24, 1941,
wee attended by 14 full-time students and 14 part-time students,
from five southern states, representing eight international unions,
Week-end conferences on southern problems brought 81 additional
percons to the school reprecenting 23 netional wmions from all
brenches of lebor. The reculnar steff was composed of MARY LAWRANCE,
ZU PHIAORTONy and JAMES DOMBROWSICL, This staff was supplemented
