Woodside, New York.,
June lst. 1948,
Mr. J. Edgar Hoover, Chief,
Federal Bureau Of Investigation,
Washington, D.C,
Dear Sir:
Just before the United States entered World War 2, I was.
; visiting @ well educated and pretty young woman in her Woodside
apartment. Her son lived there also and went to school in the
neighborhood. He must have been about 5 years of age. She told me
she was a secretary for the R.K.O. Pictures Corp., Radio City. The
last I heard of her, she moved to Cortlandt, N.Y. or some such place.
I was there one Sunday morning when a tall, quiet manneped
gray haired man of distinguished appearrance came in, He asked"How
is the boy?"and greeted me in a manner as though I was the girl's
brother and had last talked with him 24 hours before. He left after
Sook,
a brief conversation with the girl. ee ;
After he was gone, she said-"Do you know that man? I ans weréd
"No", She said-"He is a member of the Roosevelt Cabinet--He and I
are married but noone must ever know it-his name is Henry Wallace.
He has a plan that is so important that we have to live apart th&s
way. And as Kipling would say"I learned about Communism from her".
