THE NEXT TIME HE, SMOOT, TALKED TO WEINER OCCURRED IN THE HOURS JUST BEFORE WEINER WAS SERVED WITH & SUBPOENA BY THE FBI IN OBERLIN, OHIO. DURING THIS CONVERSATION, WEINER WAS VERY DISTURBED AS HE KNEW WHAT HE MUST DO AND WANTED SMOOT*S ADVICE ON WHETHER OR NOT HE SHOULD TELL AUTHORITIES WHAT HE KNEW, SMOOT STATED HE RECOMMENDED THAT WEINER TELL THE TRUTH TO THE FBI INASMUCH AS HE HAD WO PART IN THE CRINE ITSELF AND THAT HE HAD BEEN PLACED IN THIS VERY AWKWARD POSITION BY OTHERS AND THEREFORE SHOULD NOT TAKE THE BLAME. “SMODT STATED THE NEXT TIME THE FUGITIVES WERE DISCUSSED WAS AFTER THE FBI HAD TALKED TO WEINER AND YEINER HAD RETURNED TO HES, SMOOT °S, RESIDENCE IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF MARCH 12, 1975. AT THIS TIME WEINER TOLD SMOOT THAT HE FELT MUCH BETTER AND HE HAD TOLD THE FBI EVERYTHING HE KNEW AND HAD TRIED NOT TO LEAVE OUT ANY DETAILS.
