WANT HIM TO KNOW. WEINER STATED TO SMOOT THAT HE WAS TELLING HIN THE STORY AS HE, SMOOT, COULD LEARN FROM THIS AS THESE PEOPLE (REFERRING TO PATRICIA HEARST AND WILLIAM AND EMILY HARRIS) “WERE NOT ALTOGETHER IN THEIR OPERATION.” WEINER ADDITIONALLY TOLD SMOOT AT THIS TIME THAT WHEN HE ORIGINALLY WENT TO TRE RESIDENCE WITH THE SCOTTS, HE WAS INTRODUCED TO TRE FUGITIVES UNDER FALSE NAMES. ADDITIONALLY, SMOOT was TOLD. VARYING DETAILS OF THE WALK WEINER TOOK WITH THE SCOTTS 4ND ALSO SOME OF THE CONVERSATION THAT WEINER HAD WITH THE FUGITIVES. WEINER IN CONTACT WITH SMOOT SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN OCTOBER It, 1974, AND LATE FEBRUARY 1975, BUT THEY DID NOT DISCUSS THE FUGITIVES. IN LATE FEBRUARY 1975, WEINEP TELE- PHONICALLY CONTACTED SMOOT AND TOLD HIM THAT THE FBI HAD QUESTIONED HIM AND THAT HF, WEINER, HAD TOLD THE FBI HE "DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING.” SMOOT STATED WEINER CAME TO HIS Sobis
