we fn @ age ar ri er i apne ee rel te Tn i tpi NTE TR A PASI TA GE BAS ET se att as ef : e .PH 7+1299 When questioned about his brother's ; possible implication in thé a4é@tual kidnapping, WALTER SCOTT ' volunteered that he really had no evidence of this and 5 really did not suspect his brother of being involved, but also pointed out that during the polygraph, his mind dwelled on the fact that his brother could have been involved. He pointed out that the actual kidnapping took place at about the time JACK SCOTT had been dismissed from the Oberlin College for his radical activities. SA « 2/3/75, without divulging the identity of the case involved, discussed the mental condition of a person being afforded a polygraph ex Ron with ; noted psychiatrist at the engaged in a continued stu sraph. aqvises that a person having a mentally depressed State of mind does not lose accuracy. He advises that a person involved in the computer field, as is WALTER SCOTT, is a tvpe of person who has to "Dot every i and cross every +", and it was probablv more because of this reason that the person being interviewed would want to be verv explicit as to what he actually knew and to what he actually suspected. He stated that from a narrative of WALTER SCOTT's employment history (no specific details furnished other than computer -work, mostly in scientific fields), he did not believe that the person being interviewed was in a deep state of depression at the present time. A person in deep depression is more relaxed in the evening hours and his general conversation is directed toward degrading. himself. It is to be noted that WALTER SCOTT, throughout the extensive interview, wanted to convey that he had responsible positions that paid him in the $20,000 bracket. He said that his I.Q. was 139 and that his military record would verify. this. It is significant to note insofar as the current polvgraph examination is concema, there are no noticeable emotional responses indicating deception to the very important questions inquiring as to whether or not WALTER SCOTT furnished truthful information to the FBI about PATTY HEARST and about the HARRISes.
