1 -Mr. Gallagher 1 - Mr. Morrow ADDENDUM: ESM:pmd 3-14-74: At your request I discussed this matter with Charlie Bates who stated that he feels that USA Browning may not be portraying the accurate facts in this case. Bates said he knows that one of Younger's assistants in the state system has complained recently that he, the assistant, had not been advised of the investigative results of HEARNAP. SAC stated that he doubts whether this request is coming from Younger but tha he knows Younger very well and can discuss the matter with him. He said that he would determine as requested by the Attorney General exactly why and what Younger is alleged to want and that SAC will thereafter advise Bureau prior to taking any further action. I asked SAC not to contact. Younger until this action was approved by the Director and told SAC that ‘we would get- appropriate instructions out to him so that he can handle the matter first thing in the morning on 3-15-74. a pr Va hee . -2-
