discussion at a neeting of the State Board of the Comaunist Party
of California (of which he isa member) held on ¥arckh 23, 1946,
at San Francisco, stated that Brown, then a candidate for the
offtce of State Attorney General, had called upon him and wanted
him to help write a couple of speeches (no further details

Club, Conmuntst Polittcal Association, Alameda County, California,
was held on Hay 2, 1946, ac Cakland, Calitfornta. According
to the informant, the members were instructed to vote for Brown

The Assistant Chief of Staffs Intelligence, J. S. Arnys
has cdvised this Bureau that on June 14, 1946, the Mobilization
for Denocracy sponsored @ public meeting at the Olympte Audito-
rtum in Los Angeles, California, at which Brown spoke. The
Mobilization for Denocracy has been cited as one of the "key
communist fronts in Californta,” by the California Committee
