The B.B.C. Dodge Company is located at 14650 First
Avenue South, Burien, Washington. The dealership consists
of an automobile storage lot, which is fenced with chain link
fencing, an auto sales lot and several buildings housing the
Sales and service portion of the business.
The dealership can
be approached through public access areas from several different
directions. In this matter the perpetrator cut through the
chain link fence surrounding the auto storage lot.
EXPLOSIVE DEVICE
The improvised explosive devices (ED) are described
as combination pipe bomb/incendiary bombs. there were three
separate IEDs. The pipes are described as one and one-half
inch by five inch pieces of galvanized pipe with galvanized
end caps, which were filled with an explosive power and wired
in parallel with Westclox travel alarm clocks and Eveready
brand nine volt alkaline battery. The pipes were attached
to one gallon glass jugs containing a flamable liquid. The
b— devices were placed on either the hood or trunk of automobiles.
CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS
At approximately 11:11 p.m., on October 15, 1977,
an unknown subject detonated three improvided explosive devices
at B.B.C. Dodge Company, 14650 First Avenue South, Burien,
Washington, causing approximately $3,000 worth damage to
ten motor vehicles. No warning call preceeded the bombing.
No injuries occurred. Following the bombing, the King County
Police Department conducted a crime scene investigation and
obtained evidence at the scene. The King County Police
Department subsequently prepared a crime scene and follow-up
investigative report.
