Senator Pell pointed out again that they were concerned only |
with intelligence information that was used in the formulation of foreign
policy. Sullivan had previously explained to the Senator that the opera-
tions of the Bureau are wholely divorced from the formation of domestic —
or foreign policy. He agreed with this with the exception that our work _
in the Dominican-Republic in the minds of some had injected us into the
policy forming area. Sullivan thanked Senator Pell for his interest in
this matter and his suggested compromise. \ vie

McCarthy, like Senator Pell, said that if it was not for the Dominican ce

attention to Senator Pell's suggested compromise relating to the elimina-
tion of the names of agencies. It was noted that he was quite interested
in this and wanted to be certain that Senator Pell had made the suggestion ~
