Synopsis: All investigation to identify unsub to date has

been negative. On 11/24/76, a U.S. Grand Jury in Portland,
Oregon, returned an indictment charging unsub as JOHN DOE,
aka Dan Cooper, with violations of aircraft piracy and Hobbs
-Act statutes. Bond fixed at $500,000. The $5,000 reward
formerly offered by the Seattle Post Intelligencer newspaper
was withdrawn as of 12/31/76. A manual search of the missing
persons indices at FBI Headquarters was conducted based on
the presumption that unsub may have parished during the jump
and a missing persons report may have been filed with the
FBI. Twenty-one possible suspects were developed as a result
of this search and they are currently being processed as
suspects. Investigation continuing at Seattle and other
divisions. ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

paper, advised that he was withdrawing his previous offer
of a.$5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of unsub,
aka D. B. Cooper. THOMPSON stated the reward would be with-
