For the information of the Bureau and New York,
the 5/11/72 issue of the Memphis "Commercial Appeal", a
daily newspaper published in Memphis, Tennessee, contained
an article on page 41 entitled "State Strange, Props Familiar"
by THOMAS BEVIER, According to this article, the ITT
Corporation's Annual Meting of Stockholders was held in
Memphis, Tennessee, on 5/10/72, A demonstration by approxi-
mately 50 anti-war demonstrators was held in the vicinity of
the Sheraton-Peabedy Hotel during the course of the stock-
holders meeting. The demonstrators carried signs charging
, ITT with contributi to the war in Vietnam, A Franciscan
“Priest, Rev. DA LINE, representing the Clergy and Laymen
Concerned, presented two proposals at the stockholders meeting
to curtail ITT manufacture of items used in warfare, These
proposals were soundly defeated, Rev. OLINE appeared before
the demonstrators,
For the information of the Bureau and New York,
information regarding the demonstration was submitted to the
Bureau and New York by Memphis on 5/10/72 in a teletype
captioned, Demonstration Sponsored by Memphis Peace and
Freedom Council on 5/10/72 at Memphis, Tennessee, Protesting
U. S, Participation in War in Southeast Asia and War Profiteering.
No information was developed by the Memphis Office
indicating that representatives of CALC planned on participating
in the demonstration at Memphis other than as noted above.
