On May 26, 1955, defendant SIDNEY STEIN _
appeared before United States District Judge VINCENT J,
LEIBELL, Soutnern District of New York for pleading to
the indictment. The pleading was adjourned until .
June 3, 1955. STEIN's appearance in court was by writ
of habeas corpus and prosequendum issued by the United
States District Court, Southern District of New York.
This procedure was necessary since STEIN was then
incarcerated as a result of his conviction on April 26,
1954, in the United States District Court, Northern ~
District of California, San Francisco, California for
violation of Title 18,U.8.C, 3 and U.S.C, 371. STEIN
entered a plea of not guilty before Judge LEIBELL on
June 3, 1955, and bail was fixed at 550,000,
