MISCELLANEOUS - INFORMATION CONCERNING

Grande City, Texas, and who on the previous day had refused
to enter the United States because of a picket line on the
Mexican side of the border composed of members of the
Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM). Some 100 of these
workers entered the U. S. to work after the picket line
dispersed.
The article quoted UFWOC spokesman as having
said they had telegraphed President LYNDON 8, JOHNSON
to request investigation of the Texas Rangers, as Rangers
had "shoved" several union members and were strike breakers,

: EUGENE NELSON, leader of the UFWOC at Rio Grande City, had
been arrested the previous day after having threatened
Texas Rangers by stating there would be some dead rangers
unless they left the UFWOC pickets alone. NELSON was
immediately taken before a Justice of the Peace who set bond
at $2,000. He was remanded to the Starr County Jail in lieu
of bond.

Ranger“ which states Reverend ED KRUEGER of Edinburg,
Texas, and one DAVID LOPEZ, a member of the UFWOC, had filed
a complaint at Rio Grande City, Texas, the previous day
against Texas Ranger JACK VAN CLEVE which alleged the Ranger
shoved them during a demonstration at the International
