On Septemb 1967
fadvised on the
evening,of August 31, 1967, a rally was held at New
Braunfels to create interest in the march te Austin, Texas,
atarting September 1, 1367, to dramatize the need to raise
the standard of living of the workers in Rio Grande Valley
of Texas. Approximately one hundred persons attended the
rally.
Shortly after 7 a.m. on September 1, 1967, the
marchers left New Brauntels en route to Austin. The march
