UNION - Pp it was reported ntgomery County eriff's Office (MCSO), Dayton, Ohio, had arrested 23 vnember 5 of the Cnited Farm Workers (UFW) union for disorderly conduct ‘on Saturday night, November 2, 1974, after they were stopped from picketing Fazio's Food Market, 5725 North Dixie Drive, Dayton, Ohio, where they were urging customers not to buy Eable grapes or head lettuce. An unidentified spokesman was quoted as saying the UFW had picketed the store several times during the past six weeks and the incident came at the end of a five-day union organizing workshop, including members from Dayton, Columma, Toledo, Akron, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, Onio. a. ME te The story stated pickets had been ordered by Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Deputies at about 7:00 p.m. to leave the area when officers began arresting persons in the group. A Deputy Sheriff was quoted as saying that the pickets were “clapping, chanting, and raving."
