Man — the
British official in
Washington who tipped off
Maclean and. Burgess that
they were tinder suspicion—
may have been in the ship
with them when they fled.
One of the 200 passengers in
the steamer Falaisé crossing that
night of May 26, 1951, from
Southamnton ta St, Malo was
Mr. Wiliam John Lyons, a
London importer.
He said last night: “ The ship
“wag due to sail at 10 pm. Just
three minutes. before that time
two men. I now know to have
been Maclean. end Burgess
boarded the ship.
“T turned to a man next to
