I make thie statement freely. I have received no threats or promises. I am aware that this statement may be used in a court of law. The statement that ZI am now making amplifies tha the signed statenent that I orig- inally made toiigihiaeeson June 13,1951. . I recall that at the time that GUY BUKGSSS picked me up at Fredericksburg, Va. he told me that he had been stopped enroute by the Virginia State Police at a weigh- ing station a short distance from the District of Columbia Line because of his driv- ing. He indicated that he was released at this time with a warning. He was issued the warning rather than being arrested because his Diplomatic immunity. While I was riding with BURGESS he was again ee acral the Virginia State Police between Fredericksburg Va. and Richmond, Va because of the reckless character agetine * State ing. ,At this time there was some discussion between Burgess and the Virginia/Police - eS —- Office fat which tine Burgess contended that he could not be arrested because of his dip- domtic status. The State Police Officer advised Burgess that while this probably was true that Burges$ could be denied the right te drive his car in Virginia and his car could be held pending the arrival of snother driver. Burgess was again released with a warning. eee”
