MIMO,, SAC: September 23, 1946 Re: BEHJAMIN "BUGS" SIEGEL, with aliases- In response to this letter, the State Director of Selective Service at Sacramento directed a reply, dated March 15, 1944, which states as follows: "We acknowledge receipt of your letter of March 10th, request- ing waiver for induction of the abow~named registrant. "Wie have been advised by the National Headquarters that unless the Local Board is of the opinion that a registrant deliberately fails to report for induation, we should net request waiver for a man who has reached his 38th birthday. "If the Local Board is of the opinion that the registrant had a plausible reason for not having received his order to report for induction, it should not request waiver for induction as it would not be considered a flagrant case. "If, on the other hand, the Local Board is of the opinion that the registrant has intended to evade service pending his 38th birthday, then the Local Board may request waiver." Records Livision A letter from BENJAMIN SIEGEL, dated July 29, 194/, was in the file changing his address from 250 Delfern Drive to 721 North Doheny Drive. Cn his Selective Service Questionnaire, dated September 15, 191, SIEGEL showed his occupation as "Betting Commissioner" and his duties “Receive and make wagers in connection with sporting events and the like.” He showed his annual average income as 350,000; stated that he was married at New York City January 7, 1928. dis dependents were listed as the following: Name Age Relationship Wife ime : ther JENNIE SIEGEL 63 Mother The registrant stated that he contributed $12,000 during the last twelve months to the "above family group.” His parents, MAX and JENNIE, were shown as dependents because of "age and ill health.” He showed his , birthdate as February 26, 1906 at New York Gity and also made the statement y that he had not been convicted of a crima.
