Booth stated that the photographs of Glyfe Barrow resembled this mans A short time later the man returned again and got two more gallons of gas, on his third trip to the store he got two more @éllons of gas and two quarts of oil, and on returning the quart oil bottles, he purphased some bananas, cookies, mercurochrome, adhesive tepe, and four bottles of pope He drank one bottle in the store but took the other three with hime Severnl other persons, whose names were not secured, were ques- tioned in the store for further information, and it was learned that the rurel mail carrier had noticed this Ford car, with Toms license parked alongside of the road a short distance from town, He only noticed two man and a girl, but believed that there could have been another party in the car or lying on the ground in the shade of a tres who was not seen by hime 4A half mile or more from this place, in a corner of a field, they had taken their bloody clothing and sst fire to them, This fire was noticed a short time later by the farmer who owned the field, and upon investigetion he found the clothing, end after thinking this strange called it to the attention of a neighbor, who then called the Sheriff's office. The Sheriff had not as yet heard of the shooting at Flatte City, Missouri, but a visitor in his office had and told him where it wase The Sheriff then called Platte City to verify same, and upon learning details he immediately went to Caledonia and made investigations Deputy Sheriff Frank Vaughn advised agent that he and the Sheriff had trailed this car to Brown's corner, located ebort thrae miles north and east of Caledonia, end then lost track of ite Agent interviewed Ethel Brown, who advised that she observed this black Ford VeS Sedan with red wheels stop sat the corner, and back around as if the perties were confused in which direction to gos One of the men came to the house and got some water, and he resembles the picture of Clyde Barrows After he left they found some adhesive tape in the yard covered with blood. When they left this corner they were headed north. Agent and Deputy Sheriff Vaughn proceeded north a mils to a "I" cross road, and being umable to find any auto- mobile tracks going Hest, proceeded east for a mile or more msking inguiries at Various farms, At the Mosher farm, Mrs. Mosher stated that about ten=thirty on the morning of July 20 she noticed ea Ford car go by her house traveling rather slowly, There were several people in the car, just how many she did not notice. She stated that the road past her house was seldom used by strangers, and as she hei recently been missing several chickens, ehe paid more or less attention to strange carse She stated that the parties in the front seat of this car appeared to be looking around observing the country-sides This Agent followed the road east about three miles further where it enters to a fairly well traveled country bysroade Numerous inquiries along this latter road, both north and south, failed to elicit any further infomation concerning this car. However, as this road only runs north and south it is presumed thet the car went north, as it had been traveling north and east since leaving Caledonia,
