M. had been postponed and tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, August 30, 1969. According to the information received by the source, the postpgnement was occasioned by the fact that Doctor REGINALD A’, HAWKINS, a Charlotte, North Carolina, Negro dentist, desired that the demonstration be held in close proximity to the scheduled date of school cpenings in Charlotte, which would be September 2, 1969. HAWKINS preferred to have the demonstration on Tuesday, "September 1, 1969, it being his idea that the demonstration would draw Negro teachers out of the classrooms and Negro students out of the classrooms and thereby emphasize to a greater degree the unity prevalent in the Negro citizens concerning the School Board's decision to bus Negro students to integrated schools.
