a significant decrease in the number of BPP newspapers
ordered or received by the BPP Chapter. Sources report

-, During August, 1972, the BPP Chapter continued
efforts to raise an appeal bond for two of three BPP
members from High Point, N. C., who were convicted on
assault charges and who are currently confined in North
Carolina State Prison. BRADFORD LILLY, the third member
of the “High Point Three” is released from North Carolina
State Prison on appeal bond; however, his bond money was
raised principally through the efforts of his brother,
GARY LILLY, also a BPP member, who operated independently
of the BPP Chapter in order to secure his brother's release.
During August, 1972, the BPP Chapter's efforts
were directed towards soliciting food for a Survival Day
Rally which was held on 8/27/72, on the corner of
Oak and 104 Streets, Winston-Salem, N. C., one of the
poorest neighborhoods in Winston-Salem. Through personal
and telephonic contact with local merchants, BPP members
assembled 100 bags of groceries which were given away at
the 8/27/72, rally. They also gave free sickle-cell anemia
tests and encouraged voter registration at the rally.
Although this number of bags of groceries is substantially
fewer than the approximately 1,000 bags of sroceries and
several hundred pairs of children's tennis shoes, which
