C., group continues to follow HUEY P. NEWTON. PART II The following is a summary of BPP activities in the Charlotte Division: The Free Breakfast for Children Program which began on 9/6/71, at BPP Headquarters, 1333 North Patterson Avenue, continues to feed approximately eight to ten children each day» This program is headed by MARY MCDONALD, wife of RUSSELL MCDONALD. Mrs. MCDONALD is assisted by several neighborhood women volunteers. The Program is in continuous difficulty, however, as the BPP members have been eating most Of the food donated for the program, leaving very little for the children. The Breakfast Program was discontinued during the Christmas holidays and although MARY MCDONALD was very pessimistic about its future, the program was reinstituted on 1/3/72 with eight children in attendance. Sources report the morale of the Winston-Salem Chapter is very low and there is much discontent regarding the lack of any positive action being taken by the chapter. Members have expressed continuing dissatisfaction with their lack of finances and the continuous day-to-day struggle for existence of the group.
