verdict of not guilty on all charges against GEORGE DeWITT. These four,
frequently referred to as ''The High Point 4'', were members of the High Point
group of the BPP, and were arrested on 2/10/71, at BPP headquarters
following a shoot™out with police when High Point police officers attempted
to serve an eviction notice, MEDLEY, LILLEY and JENNINGS have filed notice
of appeal and are currently being held In lieu of an appeal bond of $7,000
each,

During February, 1972, no information was received other than
that the Winston-Salem, N. C., group continues to follow HUEY P. NEWTON,

The following is a summary of BPP activities in the Charlotte
Division: .
during February, 1971, due to lack of funds, Most of the food designated
for the program was consumed by BPP members themselves; however, MARY
McDONALD, assisted by neighborhood women volunteers, was able to feed
approximately eight (8) children approximately two or three times a week
with the meager food available,
The BPP Chapter expressed mixed emotions of jubilation over the
acquittal of GEORGE DeWITT In Guilford County Superior Court and dis~
appointment over the conviction of the other three High Point members,
LARRY MEDLEY, BRADFORD LILLEY and RANDOLPH JENNINGS. Efforts have been
increased to raise bail bond money In order that these three BPP members
may be released on appeal bond; however, sources report very little money
has been collected to date, Several] of the BPP members have expressed
dissatisfaction with the leadership of NELSOM MALLOY and have suggested
an appeal be sent to BPP Headquarters for the Immediate return of LARRY
The Free Breakfast for Children Program was operated sporatical ly
! LITTLE. No action has been taken In this regard to date,
The BPP chapter has also been attempting to set up a Free Health
Clinic In Winston-Salem, N, C., and the members have talked to several]
property owners in the black neighborhood In the vicinity of the BPP
Headquarters. No apparent proyress has been made regarding opening a
Health Center since the chapter has been unable to raise sufficient funds.
