The Los Angeles Police nepartacat continues its investigation into
the unsolved murder of BLIZARETH SEORT. On Vebruary 25, 1952, Lieutenant
KAPL IKE, Homicide Division, Los Angeles Police Department, called attention
to the article entitled, "The Master Impostor: fn Incredible Tele," written
under the by~line of JOE MG CAKTHY, which vas published in the January 28,
1952, issue of "Life" Nagegine on page 79. This article ee tne

surgical operations it the Koreen area, although he has hed no formal meaical
education, ar. wes en impostor using the credentials of Dr. CYR, of Grend
Falls, New Brunswick, Canada.
The article mentions that DEMAEA's home is on State Street, Lavrence,
Massachusetts, the residence of his parents. ke is about 30 years of age.
The magazine account of DEMAEA's activities contains an admission by him
that he had been arrested by FBI agents in or near Olympia, Vashington, as
a deserter from the UT, ©, Navy, dates not ;,iven, possibly while he was employed
as an instructor of psychology at St. Martin's College, Lacey, Washington.
He was then shipped, according to the story, to the U. S. bisciplinary jarracks
in Sen Pedro, California, during which time it was alleged that the U. 5S. irmy
"caught up with him' enc discharged him as a deserter from that military service.
He allegedly concucted his own defense at the Navy court-martial, yet was
unsuccessful and spent 18 months in the disciplinary barracks. Upon his A
release it was alleged that he then returned to the residence of his parents Ch Se *

The magazine story states that DEAR’ served as an orderly at a
sanatarium of the Brothers of St. John of God in Los fngeles, California,
prior to the time he traveled to the state of ‘.ashington, where he was
apprehended on the desertion charge. Lt. IED hes steted that it is possible
