AT 97-106 2 = 19, 1978, LEANZA received a letter from PAPA informing him that the Libyan Ambassador to Italy would be visiting in the United States and he requested that LEANZA introduce the Ambassador to CARTER in order that the Ambassador could = personally extend an invitation to him. After receiving this letter, LEANZA stated that he made several unsuccessful attempts to contact BERT LANCE in an effort to see if LANCE could arrange for him to meet BILLY CARTER. LEANZA went on to say that PAPA continued calling and pushed him harder to make arrangements to have BILLY CARTER visit Libya. “During this time, TOM JORDAN, a realtor from College Park, Georgia, visited LEANZA's residence and he (LEANZA) | mentioned the BILLY CARTER matter. At the’ time of this — - conversation, JORDAN told LEANZA that he knew the President, BILLY CARTER, and the entire CARTER family. JORDAN also told LEANZA that BILLY CARTER would want, between $5,000 and $10,000 per day, his customary fee, to make such a trip. In addition, JORDAN stated that he could handle the matter and would get in touch with Georgia State Senator FLOYD HUDGINS of Columbus, Georgia. Approximately two weeks after JORDAN's visit, LEANZA stated he received a call from PAPA telling him that the Ambassador to Italy, GABRIEL SHALOUF, was going to be. in Atlanta. Subsequently, LEANZA met the Ambassador with TOM JORDAN and at this point, it became known that JORDAN did not know BILLY CARTER; however, he was going to use Senator HUDGINS to make the introductions in Plains, Georgia.
