AT 7A-1835
On Sunday, May 25, 1981, the body of Nathaniel
Cater was discovered floating in the Chattahoochee River,
1.2 miles from the James Jackson Parkway Bridge. Surveillance
instituted on Wayne Bertram Williams on 5/29/81. On 6/3/81,
warrants were obtained for a search of Williams’ residence,
his car and his person, including major case prints and
certain body fluids. Williams again
found to be microscopically identical to those found on
12 of the victims.
Several witnesses have identified Williams from
a photographic line-up as being seen with, or in close proximity
to, several of the victims prior to their deaths. Williams,
during interviews, denied knowing any of the victims.
