Albert Einstein was born March 14, 1879, in Germany. He has
en Married twice and his second wife died in 1936. He came to the

According to the Smyth Report.on Atomic Energy, Einstein, as early

of this equivalence might be found by the study of radio active substances.

Chicago, was in New York City in October, 1944. Szilard was the man who first:
formulated the idea and theory that was responsible for the entire DSM experiment.
Szilard, upon conceiving the idea upon which the DS:: projects are based, contacted
Frofegsor Einstein who was impressed with the possibilities of Szilard's theories
and accompenied the latter to Washington, D. C., where they conferred with
Fresident Roosevelt. This conference resulted in the beginning oF of the experi-
