Dear Sir: With further reference to my letters to you dated Jamary 26 an 27, 1932, concerning the case entitled DAVID T.OMONEYPENNY, SUPERINTI: DENT; GzoRSE *SIBSON, ASSISTANT SUPEHINTE DEIT,SCOOK COUNTY JAIL, CONTET OF COURT, while in the Federal Building today I talked with Br. Clawson, Assistan United stuies attorney, and later to Mr, Laubenheiner, the United States Marshal, Mr. Clawson informed me thet the United States Marshal had not written a letter to the Attorney General requesting authority to employ additional Deputy Mershals as was indiested in my letter of January 26. The matter appears to be in the same status as it was on January 26, inasmuch as no definite action has been taken. + u Shortly after the eonference mentionad on Januery 26, I received two telephone calls from Mr. Moneypenny, wherein he stated that he had no definite developments to report, but that he hed been very quietly investigating the matter at the County Jail. In his last conversation with me, he stated that he and the Sheriff bad spent a creat deal of time conferring as to possible means of clearing up the situation, mt that no solution had been found. Mr. Moneypenny takes every opportunity to inform me of his sincere efforts to circumvent any action by which Al Scapone might continue the supervision of his © -caliea\ at. business interests in Chicago.
