An article in the "Newark Ledger," under date of
October 30, 1925, appeared under the byline of Anonymoud.
This article commentec on the activities of ZWILLJIAN, stating
that he had a gre2t deol te do vith putting many politicisns
in cffice, it menticnud the fact of his Third Ward Political
Clud located at Waverly and Avon Streets in Newark. Tho
article commented on nis various arrests for assault and
battery which resulted in ail but one of the ccmplaints
being withdrawn. It mide mention of the fact that when
ZWILLMAN was sentenced to Essex County Penitentiary for
Six months, he allegedly had available te him & telephone
in hig cell, wes permitted callers at e611 hours, had cther
than priscn meals, and, upon lotving, gave gifts of money
to guards and a new car to one of the jail officisis.
There was also comment cf a newsp2perman whem
ZWILLMAN beat up 2+ Child’s Restaurant on Fark Place. This
neywaraperman supposedly mistook ZWILLMAN for a prohibition
attorney and asked him what he was doing in Child's. A
fight ensued; hovzver, the newspaperman refused to identify
ZWILLMAN as the :upailent, according to this news article.
The article sheu :clated that ZVILLMAN paid $122.00 for
breakage in the icatacrant resulting from the fight.
The articie also inferred that ZWILLHAN sought
the love of 2 bicende rovie actrezs, giving her a diazond
bracelet and other gifts. ‘The actress allegedly came: to
a party in 1932 at a dewntown Newark betel which party
was being given Dy ZWILLMAN. The article then commented
he met her subsequentiy at a Western desert resort between
