the search for_a_fiving-saucer.
Bizarre reports on the whirling,
high-speed dises continued to pour

from the AAF, much eynicism
from science and the offer of $1900
forthe first one-downed.
The Air Forces, which has juris-

dises, but the AAF said statements
of witnesses are being correlated

With few States in the Nation

pilot said he had knocked one of
the “pearl-colored. _ clam-shaped

He admitted the story was a hoax.
In Washington, Dr. L. R. Haf-

Joint Research and Developme
Board and former director of 1
Johns Hopkins Applied Physi
Laboratory, said:
“Poppycock!”
Dr. Jesse Sprowls, psychology}
professor at the University of

lutely no limit to the delusion that
the mind can harbor. A tremend-|
ously interesting social psychologi-
cal delusion,” he added.
Dr. Ivan E. McDougle of Balti-|
more’s Goucher College, said he|
guessed “it’s one of those phycho-|
logical epidemics where peopie see
things that aren’t there.”
But C. J. Zohn, 440 Mellon st.
se., who works in the rocket-sonde,
high altitude research section of
the ‘Naval Research Laboratory,
yesterday reported he and three
other men saw one “saucer”
New Mexico June 29. He describda
