ederal Bureau of Investigation,
Washington, D.C.
Dear Sir,
About two years ago or so wrote to you a
asked you, to the best of my recollection, why agents
of you Bureau investigated reported landings of
unidentified flying objects and whether data regarding
their findings was available. You replied saying that
agents investigated these cases to determine whether
ny Federal law had been broken and that their
indings were confidential as were all other FBI records.
Since receiving your letter which was pleced in my
records, many of my records includine your letter were
destroyed recently in a fire at my home and I would
therefore be grateful if, for the purposes of my new
records, confirm your letter of 1964/5 if the situation
is still the same. :

In addition, I would be plea to learn what your
opinion is of the unidentified ying objects. If you
decline, I would appreciate that it was due to vour
position. a4 DEC 2 1980
