Supreme Court Justices Lewis F. Powell, Jr. and Harry A. Blackmun and U.S.Senator Alfonse D Amato.The new recipients include the Mayor of Buffalo, the Governor, Attorney General and Comptroller of New York State, two New York State Assemblymen and one 60-year-old waitress. Buffalo has interviewed the return addressees in an effort to determine who may have authored the original letter. Thus far, there is no known common denominator which connects any of the return addressees to the letter writer.
