BISHOP While talking to the Attorney General on another matter, I asked. if he had found out anything from (regarding our con- ducting an investigation of him.) The Attorney General said he had talked said he would try and track it down and if he got any information, he would get it. back to him, the Attorney General, so the Attorney General could provide. it to me, but he has not heard from I commented that I would. surmise it could be somebody down there who is trying to get something. on and indirectly embarrass the President. The Attorney General. said that could be the purpose and he so advised and that he should. get to the bottom of it. I said I would like to nail it down. I'told the Attorney General I had a vague recollection that either. Internal Revenue or the Securities and Exchange Commission had some kind of an inquiry going on about some mnths ago but that is a vague recollection since I haye been trying to think it over. The Attorney General said had that down there where he went in to try to help them put together a but the poor guv is as clean as the driven snow as he was doing it to try to help the but he got tarred from the inferences.
