Criginally, it was to b a white counterpart of the Student Nonviolent Coo'dinating Committee (Sncc). It has agreed to work with similar interested groups such as Sncc and Students ror a Democratic kciety (sDs) and Southern Conference Edueational Fund, inc.. ( cFF). sscc is a fraternal. affiliate of the SDS Beginning in the tall of j9ss. ssoc became a membership organization and cnoarked on a campaign to form South. ssoc publishes, October through May each year, a. publication, "New South Studcnt," wltich. according to the above source, has increasingly espoused and delended the pro-communist and anti-united States position on domestic and foreign policy. By letter dated pril 26. l968, on Ssoc letterhead mailed to the general Ssoc membership over the signature of Mike NeIch, Txecutive Secretary of ssoc, the was announced that as a step toward close relations with the Students for a Democratic Society (sDs) and better comaunications with the movement nationally.
