(Rev.08-28-2000) federal bureau of investigation Precedence: ROUTINE Date: 05/17/2004 To: Washington Field From: Washington Field Squad CR-2 Contact: SA Approved By: Drafted By: bjg Case ID #: 89A-226856 Title: UnsUb; Senator Mary Landrieu; CCSCAKA b2 b6 Synopsis: 1B1 of this case from the collected item inventory of Acs. b7E Details: On 05/08/2003, the writer was notified by Detective United States Capitol Police (uscp), of a threatening letter received at the home residence of Senator Mary Landrieu.. The letter stated: "If you vote against invoking cloture against another one of President Bush's nominees (such as Charles. Pickering, Owen, Estrada), I'm going to kill you.' I will also go after your family, such as your husband and kids...I will kill them as well...If you care about yourself and your family, you'll do what I. say....If you vote against invoking cloture again, I'm going to track you, your family and even your staff down and kill them and you...I know where you live." The letter includes names, and addresses of the Senator's sister, and father, The letter had no return address and a May 2, 2003, Muncie, Indiana postmark. On 5/8/03 the threatening letter was sent to the FBI Laboratory for analysis. On Auqust 27, 2003, the FBI Laboratory advised that a search of the provided no identifications. On September 3, 2003, the Questioned Documents Unit of the FBI Laboratory advised that the Anonymous Letter File was. searched with negative results. On February 2, 2004, the DNA Analysis Unit I advised that there was no detectable DnA on the envelope. Report dated 4/8/2004 from the Latent Print Unit advised that no latent prints of value were detected on any of the items sent for examination. As there are no other examinations to be conducted, therefore writer requests that this case be closed.
