In this statement a reviaw of th. arrests of BITreinan and JonES was given. The following is quoted fron this panphlets o... "This deportation drive is part of the larger blits to. Hartley Law, the unconstitutional actirities of the House Un-Anerican Committee, 'loyalty! tests, nake up one big campaign which seeks to orer throw the traditional and Constitutionsl democratic rights of the people.* These two parphlets are boing retained in instant file a.. .xhibits. A comnittee of four headed by wiLLiau Noran, Organizational. Secretary of the New Iork Stats. Committee and including AuDLe. MOoRE, IRVING FREED and GEORGE BLAKp CHARNEY, the latter being msmbera of the No. York Stat. Committee of the Communist Party were elected as a delegation to see the District Director of Imigration. At about l2:30 P.M. members of this delegation attempted to enter the building at 70 Columbus Avenne, but. were denied entrance by the police when it was made kaown that the District Director WATkins was not in the building.. At this time the members in the picket line chanted that ths delegation should be permitted to see someono in the Ins, and they called for democracy to bo displayed. .. CLAuDIA JONES was observed marching in the picket line from about l2:45 P.M. to l:00 P.. She was also seen leaving the picket Line. with AUDLEY MOORE and ROSE GAULDEN. In the "Daily Worker", February 3, l948, Page 7, Column 5, there appeared an announcanent that a mass rally "to demand an ond to February 4, l948, at the Grand Central Palace, 90 Clinton Street, New Iork City.
