The purpose of the this canvass was to determine if any ot the individuals associated with the attacks of September 1l, 2ool had stayed at these hotels.. Los Angeles had obtained information.from Fer San Diego and FBI New York chat[ CL resident of San Diego who was interviewed as part of a proffer. agreenent at the Southern.District of New York, had been introduced to NAWAF AL HAZMI and KHALID AL MIHDHAR, twO of the hijackers on American Aixlines Flight 77 by Mr. OmAR BAyouMI, the spiritual leader of a Kurdish mosque in Magnolia, Caiifornia. further stated that in late Spring/early summer 2ooo, he and AL. in order to drop off AL MibhAR at the Los Angeles International Airport for a Lutthansa Airlines flight to Saudi Arabia.
