D-302RE 3-8-77 FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION 1 6/14/83 Date of transcription Sheriff TOm BEBBER, Alexander County Sheriff's Office, Taylorsville North Carolina, advised that he is familiar with BEBBER advised that before Christmas of 1982 he received a letter fram lalleging that North Carolina, in BEBBER advised that [he traveled to North Carolina, after receiving the letter from. regarding the matter. BEBBeR advised that after b6 and there interviewed taking a statement from. lhe returned to Alexander County in order to. b7C investigate BEBBER advised that claimed to have BEBBeR advised that while his investigation was continuing received a letter fram Stating that he had lied about the incident. BEBBER advised he subsequently received a letter from stating that he had lied to the Sheriff and that he just wanted to come home for Christmas. Sheriff BEbBER advised that he checked with Georgia where Jas well as for a l97l Ford automobile that was allegedly parked land both proved negative.. BEBBER further advised that no unidentified [and totally discounted the story. BEBBER further advised that. North Carolina, and b6 b7C North Carolina. Sheriff BEBBER advised that ne Ieeis. conmitted by and the recent publicity given to the Ku Klux Klan proposed trial in winston-Salem, North Carolina, have weighed heavily or mind and caused the recent letter. BEBBER advised that. admitted being a member of the Ku Klux Klan in his previous interview. 6/6/83 Taylorsville, N. C.
